UP Magazine is a student-photographed, modeled, written, marketed, and designed magazine. As apart of their Issue, Destined, I had the oppertunity to design a two spread layout for one of their articles.

The challenge I faced with this article was how to make the provided photography that did not feature models still feel editorial to follow UP’s branding. I also ran into the issue of fitting a large amount of copy into only two spreads, where they wanted photography to be the focal point. I used a minimalistic color palette to seamlessly transition from photos to graphics. I cropped the images to focus on the important details and remove any excess visual information. I used consistent, minimal borders to make the layouts feel cohesive with the rest of the magazine.
